We are excited to present this year’s Biblical Calendar. Follow along with Almond House as we observe the Feasts, New Moons, Shabbat Torah Portion readings, and more...

The Biblical Calendar has been widely debated for thousands of years. For this year, our ministry has been led to follow these Appointed Time dates. This calendar serves as a temporary standard in observing the Appointed Times and Torah readings together as a broader online community, while we continue to study, evaluate and prayerfully consider other proposed calendars.

Calendar Base
This calendar is based on the Hillel II calendar Jewish Calendar, with specific adjustments to the observance dates of Firstfruits and Pentecost. In this model, Firstfruits is observed after the weekly Sabbath rather than after the first High Sabbath of Unleavened Bread, as is customary in traditional Judaism. This adjustment is made to align with a Biblical reading of Leviticus 23:15 and consequently results in a different date for Pentecost, as it is calculated by counting fifty days from Firstfruits.

Aside from these distinctions and the New Moons*, all other Appointed Times and Torah Portions remain consistent with the dates observed in the Jewish calendar.

Calendar Dates

  • Passover: Wed 1st April
  • Unleavened Bread: Thurs 2nd - Wed 8th April (High Sabbath 2nd and 8th)
  • Firstfruits: Sun 5th April
  • Pentecost: Sun 24th April (High Sabbath)
  • Trumpets: Sat 12th - 12th Sept (Sabbath rest)
  • Atonement: Mon 21st Sept (solemn Sabbath rest)
  • Tabernacles: Sat 26th Sept - Sat 3rd Oct (Sabbath rest, 26th and 3rd)

The Calendar Includes
- YHVH's Appointed Times
- Feast Day Suggested Readings
- Feast Day notes on how to observe them
- New Moons and Moon Phases
- Shabbat Torah Portion Schedule
- Shabbat Prophet Reading Schedule
- Shabbat "New Testament" Reading Schedule
- Counting of the Omer
- Mazzaroth Sun Phases

Artwork: Torah
As you move through the calendar, the artwork has been thoughtfully chosen to correspond with the Torah reading or Feast Day of each month. While we aim to reflect the Biblical narrative, these images are artistic interpretations and may not represent the exact likeness of the people or places described in Scripture.

Artwork: Twelve Tribes
Each month features emblematic artwork representing one of the twelve tribes of Israel, inspired by the blessings recorded in the Torah and the characteristics associated with each tribe—the sons of Israel. The selection of tribes for each month also draws from the Hebrew camp arrangement described in Numbers 2, which is often understood as an earthly reflection of the constellations above.

In addition, further inspiration is drawn from Ezekiel 1, which describes the wheels and the four living creatures—a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle (sometimes associated with a serpent). These are often understood as four cosmological figures within YHVH’s appointed order in the heavens. They correspond to the leading tribes in Numbers 2: Reuben (man), Judah (lion), Ephraim (ox), and Dan (eagle/serpent).

In this version, the 12 Mazzaroth (Job 38:32) are included as a source of inspiration in relation to Biblical prophecy, while the scriptures selected for each month are intended to highlight the significance of the Feast Days, New Moons, and Sabbaths.

Disclaimer
Where possible, we have included the original Biblical Hebrew month names used before the Babylonian captivity. For example, “Zif” is used instead of “Iyyar” (1 Kings 6:1, 6:37). However, for some months, such as Tammuz, no earlier Biblical name has been recorded. If the use of post-exilic names is a concern, you may simply cover or omit them as you see fit.

*The New Moons in our calendar are determined using various lunar phase applications, estimating the first visible sliver of the moon at approximately 3% illumination. In this calendar, the New Moon is recognised by the first visible crescent. As a result, New Moon dates will differ from the Hillel II calendar, where the New Moon is associated with the dark moon. Therefore, in this calendar, the New Moon often falls one day after the dark moon observed in traditional Judaism.
